Did you know that members of The Opp team are certified in School Age and Youth PQA External Assessor Reliability Training, Youth Work Methods, and Youth Mental Health First Aid Training. We love bringing these nationally recognized resources and workshops to Tulsa's expanded learning community.

The Opp works to create, amplify, and leverage relevant professional learning opportunities grounded in the city’s OST standards for positive youth development and high-quality programming. We do this by offering synchronous (in-person) and asynchronous (online) professional learning opportunities to youth-workers and educators. The Opp serves over 50 youth-serving organizations in Tulsa, as well as local educators, support staff, and youth.

Peaceful Communication

This workshop, created by our staff, provides easy-to-implement formulas to communicate more effectively within any context regarding needs and feelings. Examples used in practice are custom-tailored to the audience. This interactive training is useful for professionals both within youth-serving organizations and beyond.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Certification (YMHFA)

1 in 5 teens and young adults lives with a mental health condition and 50% of all mental illnesses begin by age 14. Because mental health conditions begin as early as they do and occur as frequently as they do, it is vital that those supporting our youth as they grow and learn are able to identify signs and symptoms of mental health challenges. Youth Mental Health First Aid training teaches just this as well as a five step action plan to understand and respond in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Participants are also provided with a Community Resource Guide.

Offered at cost in the following formats:

  • Full-day, In-person Training (8 hours): $18.95/person

  • Blended Training (4 hours asynchronous online, 4 hours in-person): $23.95/person

  • Online Training (4 hours asynchronous, 4 hours synchronous): $23.95/person

  • There is a 15 person minimum and 30 person maximum for YMHFA trainings.

“I loved how prepared y’all were and how much the presenters matched our energy and our experience level. Presenters held a lot of nuance with us about the strengths and challenges of being in a classroom, and it affirmed learning but still challenged us to consider how to do better in the future.”

***

“Y’all are wonderful presenters. This information was validating of the work I do and also super helpful on how I can continue to grow and improve.”
